- Wilkes Community College Gardens features the unique non-visual Eddy Merle Watson Memorial Garden for the senses. Designed to appeal to the senses of smell and touch, the gardens interpret the variety of flowers and Braille labels.
- State Parks in the area include Stone Mountain State Park, Basin Creek Trail, Moravian Falls Family Campground and Water Park, W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
- Boone/Blowing Rock
Ride the train, brave the bridge, unravel mysteries, pan for fortunes, tap your toes, see inside a mountain and much, much more. There's plenty to do for kids, couples, families and seniors!
