Wilkesboro/North Wilkesboro

The John A. Walker Community Center has been host to Broadway hits, Motown greats, North Carolina's Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Boys' Choir, David Copperfield and many, many more.

The Wilkes Playmakers is a community theatre organization dedicated to performance art in Wilkes County. It is open to all ages and features "Seniors on Stage" and "Children's Theatre", which includes an after-school program.

Founded in 1962, Wilkes Art Gallery is a non-profit organization supporting the art community of Wilkes County. The Gallery features monthly exhibits, public receptions, and talks by participating artists. Educational programs are provided for adults and school children through workshops, lectures, field trips and special events. During Youth Art Month, weekly exhibits display the work of students in the Wilkes County Schools. The Honors Art program awards scholarships to exceptionally talented high school students to participate in an advanced art study that culminates in a community project.

Boone/Blowing Rock

Every year Appalachian State University's Office of Cultural Affairs brings world renowned performances to northwestern North Carolina. Performances have included the Hong Kong Ballet, the River City Brass Band, the comedy troupe Chicago City Limits, the London City Opera, and from the People's Republic of China, The Peking Acrobats.

An Appalachian Summer Festival features the finest in music, dance, theater and visual arts during the month of July. Sponsored by Appalachian State University.
Winston-Salem

Professional symphony and opera. Broadway shows on tour. Exciting work by students of the North Carolina School of the Arts. Local theater and musicals. Live jazz, blues, and alternative music. Home of the National Black Theatre Festival.

Charlotte

Charlotte is rich with fascinating museums. Step into the past at Charlotte Museum of History or Historic Latta Plantation. The Mint Museum of Art always has an incredible display. Charlotte is also home to the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.
